The Florida Health Department issues a medical marijuana card (MMJ). To obtain one, you must first get a signed recommendation from one of our licensed physicians to qualify. With approval from one of our doctors, you will apply through the state and pay a fee to obtain a medical marijuana card.

When your application is approved, and you have your MMJ card, you or your legal representative can buy cannabis products from a licensed medical marijuana treatment center in Florida.  You can get the pain and symptom relief you need, naturally.

In addition to having one of the ailments that may be treated with cannabis, to qualify for Florida’s medical marijuana state program, you need to have proof of residency in Florida and be over 18 years old. If you are under 18 years of age, you need a second doctor to recommend your medical marijuana card.

A medical marijuana recommendation requires physician certification, meaning you have to obtain a written document signed by a doctor that states you have a condition that can be helped by medical marijuana. The doctor must also include that the therapeutic benefits of you using marijuana will likely outweigh any potential risks to your health. The physician must also include how long he/she feels you should use marijuana.

You can only receive a physician certification following a complete examination by the doctor will an entire assessment of your medical history. If someone under 18 years old requests certification, consent from a parent or guardian must be given in writing.

Florida’s Department of Health also requires that you have a patient/doctor relationship for at least 90 days before you become eligible for a medical marijuana card in Broward County.
